Ariankavu

The shrine here is dedicated to Sree Sastha and the annual festival which is held in December attracts thousands of devotees from all over the place.

Ochira

Ochira is Located 34 km north of Kollam, The unique feature of this famous pilgrim centre is that there is no deity or idol at the famous Parabrahma temple dedicated to the Universal Consciousness. Three main annual festivals are held here Ochira kalli, Prandra Velluak ( Middle of November every year it’s a 12 days festival ) 28th onam , it is conducted 28 days after the national festival of kerala Onam. Every year.

Palaruvi

Waterfalls Just 5km from Ariankavu is the lovely waterfalls at Palaruvi at an height of 300 feet. It derives this name since it gives an impression of flowing milk.

Sasthankotta


It is the largest fresh water lake in kerala and the source of kollam water supply scheme. It is situated on the bank of the river Kallada. There is also a Siva temple in the town.

Thangasseri

It is a historically important place as ruined Portuguese Fort and 18th century church can be found here. The long beach has a 44 meter lighthouse.

Thenmala

The area is covered by dense forest, rubber and tea plantations. An Eco Tourism Development Project is under implementation here. Thenmala is also a damsite.

Tirumullavaram beach

This quiet beautiful beach is filled with coconut trees and an ideal beach for bathing.

The climate of Kollam is generally temperate and humid and relatively more pleasant in the winter season. The temperature ranges from 22 to 35°C in summer and 20 to 32°C during winters. Annual average rainfall is 310 cm.
