Kasaragod Tourism Spots Bekal The beautiful beach with archaeologically and historically important Bekal Fort in the back ground is the main tourist attraction. The majestic and well preserved Bekal Fort, the largest in Kerala, once belonged to Kadampa Dynasty. It was captured by Tippu Sultan and later it came under the east India company. An old mosque near by is believed to have been built by Tippu Sultan. Chandragiri The fort which was built by Sivappa Nayaka in the 17th century is the largest squares fort. It is situated on the bank of the Payaswani river. Hosdrug The fort is the main tourist attraction. The place is known by Nithyanandashiram, one of the international spiritual centers. A favorite hub for sunset viewers, it has an old lighthouse and two crumbling piers, along with entertainment facilities like the Lion's park for children and the marine water aquarium. Manjeshwar It is a cashsew- rich-town at the northern top of the district. The memorial of Govinda Pai, the Grand Patriach of Kannada Literature is situated here.
