Aranmula

The Parthasarathi Temple dedicated to Sree Krishna on the banks of the holy river Pamba attracts large crowds of devotees. The famed Aranmula boat race is held on the last day of the week long Onam festival.

Charalkunnu Hill station

The hill station offers a panoramic view of the nearby valleys. A camp house on the hill provides comfortable lodging.

Kakki Reservoir

In this place tigers, elephants and monkeys can be sighted in the forest surrounding the reservoir.

Konni

Konni is rich in cash crops like rubber, pepper, coffee, ginger etc. There is also a centre for training elephants in this place.

Mannadi

The ancient Bhagavathy Temple here contains some interesting stone sculptures. Mannadi is also the venue of the Kerala Institute of Folklore and Folk Arts.

Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls

Perunthenaruvi Waterfalls, which flows down a rock path into a raving to hundred feet deep is accessible by bus from Kollam.

River Pamba

This is the main halting point on the way to Sabarimala, the famous pilgrim centre.

Sabarimala

Sabarimala a well known pilgrim centers is situated in the forest of the Western Ghats. This holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Ayyappan and million s of devotees lead a rigorous and austere life for a period of 14 days prior to visit the temple as per religious custom. Pilgrim season is in the month of November to mid January. People of all castes and creeds are permitted into the temple. However, entry is not allowed to women between 10 and 50 years of age. Vehicles can go up to Pamba and the last 3km to the shrine can be reached only by trekking.
